Floppy Problems
Cleaned inside and reorganized cables in my machine, now the floppy light is always on and will not recognize that diskette is in. No other errors pop up. Someone have any suggestions?.....thanks....d

Your ribbon cable to the floppy drive is flipped around backwards.
Flip it back around and you'll be fine.
Would you like fries with that?

Thanks. That was simple enough but the notch on the floppy doesn't line up with the cable. I thought you couldn't go wrong by just making sure the notch lines up.
Thanks again......d

For some stupid reason, many floppy drives can accept a keyed cable both ways...at least the 4 drives I currently have will. Don't know why...just one of lifes little mysteries. : )

one general rule of thumb i follow, is that the red stripe on the ribbon cable usually goes toward the power plug, this works most of the time

Perhaps the cable is reversed at the motherboard end rather than the drive end? By reversing the drive end you have cured the problem but as you say, the notch won't line up...
