Thumbs down Iwill Raid in DOS SUCKS anybody help ?

Anybody know how to speed up HD access on the IWill KK266-R in Dos ? I did see an article which hinted at there being a problem when raid was used in dos with this board but I can't find it now.
I have Raid active and configured for two raid 0 arrays spanning four ide drives. Average speed when in dos 70 MB min. I had exactly the same setup on an Abit KA7-raid board with an average speed in excess of 700 MB min. What the hells goin on, is the controller crap or is it a config problem ? The only difference between the two systems is the mobo. I did a clean install of everything including formating ALL the drives( 3 times ) still no joy. If anybody has an answer I'd be grateful.

I use IWill boards and I might be able to help, but im not familiar with Axia. Is that the processor type? If so, I have never heard of them. Being that its the KK model im assumeing that its the AMD processor. If that is the case then I would say its a configuration error. I havent set up a system that powerfull with that board but I have had no problem in DOS with the access times.

this probably didnt help much but ill look into my own documentaion and check back if I find something...good luck!
I dont feel tardy...

Thanks Cygnus, yep axia is an AMD T/Bird, to business been trying different connection formats for the drives results below. All tests were done using the same ghost image of a 6 gig partion containing 700meg of data and copied from D secondary raid array to C primary raid array except for the CD test which I found surprising. Arrays set up as 32k stripe with 16k clusters.

1) Raid Array 0 = master & Slave on primary raid channel
Raid Array 1 = master & Slave on secondary raid channel
Speed = 47 mb/m

2) Raid Array 0 = master raid channel 0 & master raid channel 1
Raid Array 1 = secondary raid channel 0 & secondary raid channel 1
Speed 50 mb/m

3) Raid Array 0 = master raid channel 0 & secondary raid channel 1
Raid Array 1 = secondary raid channel 0 & Master raid channel 1
Speed 131 mb/m

4) CD primary on IDE 0
Speed 135 mb/m

As you can see from the above copying from the CD is fastest ?? DOH

Now the plot thickens, I use a zoom v.92 external modem on com 1. If I switch it off the speed of config 3 above rises to 315 mb/m. The modem IRQ is 3 the raid controller is 10.
Any ideas what the hells goin on ?

Even more clueless now
