    Cant get my engine started!?!

Any R/C airplane folks out there...I have been flying electrics for the past year or so, just got my first gas powered plane and can't start the engine. I have an OS .46 glow powered engine. I am using 15% nitro glow fuel, got everything charged and needle valve set low, it starts for a second revs up high then quits. I would really like to take it out for a spin this weekend so any help would be great.

sounds like your muffler bearings are shot, try replacing them.

I think when they rev high and then stall typically means that they are running too lean. try adjusting the fuel/air mixture a little richer, see what happens. When you break them in, it is better to run a little rich, keeps the lubrication running through. Over time if you run it too rich, you usually foul out glow plugs, and a few other things...

    What is a muffler bearing?

I don't know. But I will try to adjust the mix. I think I need to invest in an electric starter, this flipping the prop by hand is tedious.

Yeah, I went with electric start on my 4WD truck, and it makes things easier. Especially on those days when she is hard to start, nothing beats pushin' a button!!! I have a 15 minute quick charge that works off of a car battery, so I can run until I run out of fuel!

Definitely make sure you break it in right. I had to run 4 tanks through my T-Maxx before it was broke in. You can smoke em quick.

Or blinker fluid. Sometimes you just run out and things just don't work.

It must be the blinker fluid, cause I can't even find the blinker. Is that why it wont start, no signal, mirror + sholder check to get it going?

It's not the muffler bearings or the blinker fluid.... it's the Corvair water pump that's the problem!

Did you check the flux capacitor and the dilithium crystals...?

I think you're going to have to replace the Johnson Rod. Seriously.

I know the thread has wandered away, but I finally got it going. Now it is off to the wild blue yonder, soon as I recharge glow plug starter.

On a side note I bought an electric starter and it was much easier to start. A .46 engine has much more power than I am used to with electrics.
