floppy and cdrom light stay on... WTF !

    K7T turbo board new.

    Power up OK
    Run OK
Shutdown results in normal shutdown BUT
both the CDrom and the floppy drive light come on and stay
    on.
Turn power off at power supply and lights go off.

Behavior remains the same with different power supply.

    Mainboard failure?
    Ground short?
Something so obvious I don't see it?

    I dunno
    suggestions / advice much appreciated.

    thx in advance.

Check the ribon cables and see if the pins match up. The stripe/color side goes on pin 1. If you have the ribbons reveresed (on either side - on the board or the device) it will do this.

    Hey !

I really thought that was it, LOL

    No such luck, whine, whine.

Power supply checked with one assumed to be good but who knows. Looks like my system is going down to test with one I KNOW is good.

I should have checked before posting
IDE cables removed = same behavior.

    Many thanks

Missed the "run ok" part of the original post. I thought it was when you had the thing on and running not when it was turned off.

If they operate properly it's not the cables. You swapped the PSU with one known good so that is likely ruled out.

Look into the power settings in the bios and turn off all "wake on" and power saving features and make sure that power off is actually off and not something else.

    NO, I'm a dumbass

    No Really I am.

Again with my thanks for your time and effort.

But just a sad little case of rtfm.

Twin USB header plugged onto the wrong connector.

Just the gods smiling on me that I did not take the mainboard out, whew....

Guess I'm a lucky dumbass too.
