I belong to a computer club. A member wants to know because he has the opportunity to buy a system with a Duron chip or a system with a Celeron chip. Just out of curiosity he asked me which made the better processor Intel, or AMD?
I didn't have a ready answer for him so I thought WD's might.

That really does depend on the spec of the machine and what he wants it for... how about telling us the requirements and the processor speeds you have in mind to compare?

I've always had a weakness fro Doritos, but Celery can be a tasty snack if it's dipped in peanut butter.

Hi NooNoo,
I don't have that information. He just asked me a very vague, general question. I have a Duron myself but I have no experience with Celerons. I know that Gateway experimented with them for awhile but I also know they stopped it. I also know that AMD has stopped manufacturing the Duron.

Based on that information Orangeman, Grover's answer is as good as any

I got my money's worth with the older celery's since I got to overlcock them so high. Since there was no time frame given, I chose to vote based on those ones. However, I'd definately go with a Duron over a Celeron now... but nobody's getting my 2100+ away from me

if it's going to remain at stock speeds, and the other specs of the system were the same (ram, hdd, video, etc), then I'd get the Duron, MHz for MHz, they are quicker.
I'd be the village idiot, but that spot is already taken.
Note to self: No-one cares about your system specs
