    Post Mixed up drive letters

    My first drive is partitioned into C&D. I installed a new drive and it labeled itself D and moved my previous D partion to E. The disk settings tab doesn't allow me to switch drive letters. How can I reassign drive letters so that my original drive returns to C&D and my new drive assigns to E?

    What you did when you formatted and fdisked your second drive, was to make a primary dos partition. Windows will always see a primary partition before a extended dos partition.

    How to get round this ?

    using fdisk, remove the primary partition of your second drive and then only create an extended dos partition, followed by a logical drive in the extended.

    When you reboot the second hard drive should now be E:
