Not that my machines are perfect, but an actual "crash" (i.e., BSOD, lock-up, fatal excepion/OE, stop statement, dr. watson or memory leak) only occurs once every several months. Usually it is caused by a new app or driver that I am testing for evaluation.

Running XP on an Asus MB. In the last three months my machine has crashed no more than 4 times and every single time it locked up it was due to quicktime. Don't know why yet but I uninstalled it.

My sytem never crahses without reason, I've recently upgraded and i've had many lockups, mainly due to findint out the limit of overclocking, I've gotten that sorted out now, so time for some serious uptime.

I had an issue a couple of months back where my system would hang when it hit the MBR of the boot drive. In order to boot, I had to reset BIOS. My solution was Don't reboot. Ran rebootless for over a month with no problems. The issue seems to be gone now.

The only time my AthlonXP 2100+ on an Asus A7N8X-DX running WinXP SP1 crashed was when a Seagate hard drive started going flakey.
No other crashes besides those.

I think the poll sucks. You need more options. Mine crashes maybe once a month, mine at work only locked up once in 6 months, until I realized that i pulled the keyboard PS2 connection out when I disconnected the UPS serial connection.
But really, you should have a once a week option and a once a month option...

That was a power outtage.... was up for a month before that, reboots for windows updates.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Running WinXP Home on an ABitKT7A-Raid Athlon 1gig. Hasnt crashed but, I power down at night and during the day when i'm at work. WHich leads me to another question, and ive heard opinions on both sides, which is best? TO keep a system up or to shut down when not in use? I believe the occasional shut down is in order. Clears the sinuses so to speak.,..

my thoughts on the power up or not...
i hear more responses i turned my computer off or i rebooted now i ca't get into windows....
in the old days i belived it mattered, today not so much...
there are some theroy's about that small pulse of power frying things in your computer when you first put it on...but i think that it's hoey...(especially if you get a decent PSU, and in practice atx is never truned off, execpt when you throw the switch on the psu, or unplug)
the one to listen to and i don't know if he is still posting is RUSLAN, he know's his psu's and crap like that.
