Try this if you are using Win95/98.
    Start>Settings>Control Panel> Internet Properties>Connections.

Then go to America Online(default) and click Settings to the right of the window where you see it.

In Settings, uncheck everything, including Proxy Server. If it asks you to check anything, check the checkbox next to AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS.

    Restart.

    Good Luck,

In that case I would call AOL technical Support at:
    1-888-827-6364

    Its free!

You might also try Start> Setting> Control Panel> Internet Settings> Connections and Highlight AOL.

Then check "Never dial a connection"

You could also go Start>Settings>Control Panel> Network and make sure either Windows Logon or Microsoft Family Logon is checked. (Perferable Windows Logon.)

The third thing is to go Start>Programs> America Online> Aol System Information>Uninstall AOL Adapter, then shut down AOL then restart.

Finally I would try Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>MS system information> Tools> Internet Explorer Repair Tool.

Run it and see if it works
