    IE6 Error Message

Thank you stevet ... i used the patch...am not getting mshtml.dll error anymore...now just general "microsoft IE has encountered a problem blah blah"...

It seems the answer lies in the Microsoft/Sun java conflict...i have tried all the suggestions made so far, but to no avail...

I'm off to read yet another article on error messages... ...thanks again for your help...

    Question IE6 Error Message

Hello NooNoo...this is what i got...

    AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: mshtml.dll ModVer: 6.0.2800.1173 Offset: 000d875a

6.0.2800.1106 is the version of IE6sp1 that you're running and 6.0.2800.1173 is the version of the patched mshtml.dll that you installed (q816506.exe). So it looks like the patch didn't do any good since mshtml.dll is still causing problems.

Definately sounds like a java scripting issue with ie, did you download the latest update for sun java? Maybe you can also try setting you ie security privileges down to low or custom, maybe its flipping out with a frame or something or another oddball fix you can try is go into the properties of ie, go to settings under temporary internet files, and select view objects, under that list take a look at which one may correspond to the site you are trying to go to, maybe there is a slim chance that it didnt load properly the first time you downloaded the java applet software to play the game.

make sure you have the sun java updated first then whack the object, you never know you may get lucky

    let me know

    Hiya

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.

Also, go here and download Spybot:

    http://security.kolla.de/

hit the online tab to search for and download the updates, then shut down and relaunch SpyBot.

Finally, after closing down Internet Explorer, hit 'Check All', and have SpyBot remove all it finds.

    Regards

As I remember, and correct me if I'm wrong but MSHTML is a tool that is supposed to remove proprietary Microsoft HTML from an HTML document. Its purpose is to make Microsoft Word html compatible with all browsers, including Netscape.

My experience is that it does NOT work and your html document will STILL be incompatible with netscape.

After all you've tried and nothing still works I would try downloading MSHTML and UNINSTALLING it and see if that helps.

    Good Luck,

From your last post, it looks like you have several programs that run at startup, and even a couple which most likely integrate with IE and could be causing some problems. Try disabling some of these. If you're not sure how to do this, download the Startup Control Panel from mlin.net. Its an excellent tool for managing all of those startup programs that insist on running in the background.

    O2 - BHO: Hotbar - {B195B3B3-8A05-11D3-97A4-0004ACA6948E} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\HOTBAR\BIN\4.2.11.0\HBHOSTIE.DLL

That will not be helping matters. Download and install spybot - start the program and immediately update it. Then run the search and destroy.

But NooNoo is right -- you're not helping yourself by allowing other add-ons to be running while you're troubleshooting. I'm sure that hotbar was working fine before... but so was IE, right? Disable everything that you possibly can; troubleshooting is way easier when you can make everything as un-complicated as possible. If the problems go away after you disable/uninstall everything, then try adding them back, one at a time.
