    What's the email header say?

And no, M$ doesn't email people individually to apply a patch.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Microsoft will NEVER send you a patch via personal email, PERIOD.

Scan the attachment with Norton AV or one of the online scans such as www.pandasoftware.com.

Let us know what it shows......

I do get MS notifications on a regular basis. This was the latest " Buffer Overrun in Windows Kernel Message Handling could lead to Elevated Privileges (811493)". As an oem I signed up for all the security notifications. All the emails refer me to the security bulletin with a link. If there is a patch the link is there or there is a link to an MS page that has the patch and I download it from there.

Yes, but they do not send the patch as an attachment, which is what is happening to Talonboy.

The previous posts could be read that MS never sends security alerts, I was just clearing that up.

patch.exe could b part of a program called netbus... im sure most of u have heard of it and knows what it can do, im not sure if people can still use that program to connect to other peoples computer and mess with them but patch.exe is the name of the file you need the client to run in order for you to connect to there computer... id b careful if i were you...
