DirectX programs not starting up
After some seemingly random amount of time, if I try to start up any program that uses DirectX as it's renderer, they will either A) simply not start up at all, or B) be all distorted. A) is the usual result. Affected are games like Unreal Tournament and other programs like Dream Render.
I am using DirectX 9.0a, the latest Asus drivers for Windows 2000 (v31.40H). Using Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
While a simple reboot fixes this issue, I'd really like to know how to kill it once and for all because it's extremely aggravating.
I have also installed and reinstalled ALL the latest official drivers for my system, including DirectX 9.0a.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'd get rid of DX9 and go back to DX8 if all of it worked before you upgraded to 9.

I'd like to, but if I try to install DX 8.1a, it will go through and extract all the files, but as soon as it's done with that, it will say "DirectX Setup Complete." Nothing more. Then it just quits.

So DXanything isn't working?
Win2K restore from a CD boot or reinstall is all I can think of...
DX has it's tendrils dug in so it's a wing and a prayer from here unless someone has a different solution or reg hack
