what thinkpad model... and windows 2002 xp?!???

are you refereing to windows XP or windows 2003? or windows 2000?

    i don't know of windows 2002.....

honestly, check the individual manufacturers of your hardware for XP support. IBM is usualy pretty good, so i'm confident (even without knowing the model) that the laptop itself is compatible. For scanner/printe/camera? check those manufacturers.

As for the install. You will be WAY better off to format the drive and do a clean install of XP rather then an "Upgrade" install.

Could you tell us what make and model of PC and whether it is a laptop?

The most important thing about using XP is that it requires a decent processor and a lot of ram. While XP will try and run on just about anything, the speed of operation is greatly affected.

If you are not sure about your computer specifications go to www.belarc.com download the free personal audit, run it and post the results here (don't forget to edit out your licence numbers).
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
