    Question Unusual Exchange Backup Problem

I have an Exchange 2000 server SP3 which I FINALLY got to backup properly using Arcserve 2000 SP4. Every time I get a successful "brick level" backup, it triggers previous reminders.

Every morning, all my old reminders come up as overdue even though I had dismissed them weeks ago! Any ideas what's going on?!?

I wish. I hate Arcserve 2000, but it's not my choice...

What prevents you from just using NTBackup?

I think SpongeBob is right, lose Arcserve. At the very least I'd lose the brick level backup. It's slow and buggy and I've seen it take down an NT box.

I've had this issue on the old reminders as well....it was going on for a few days...then stopped.....

That's just a basic file backup tool, it can't back up and restore Exchange mailbox data.

arcserve is the worst backup app i have seen, nt backup looks like a gem compared to that.

I use ArcServe 2k, and had nothing but good times. Only issue is that the database gets quite large over time if you don't purge old tapes.

I think you all that don't like it just never learned how to use it.

As far as the exchange issue, sorry, I don't have any idea what is going on there...

If you are running backupexec on an Exchange server do you need the Exchange Agent for it to work correctly?

Ours is constantly locking up. I told Dell when we ordered it that It was going to be an Exchange server yet no exchange agent came with my bundle and is greyed out on the options during installation.

True, and the license for 1 Exchange server is some $500.
Weird problem the locking, we're running ver.9 without any problem on a PII/WinNT. If you have ver 9 there are updates for it. There are also MANY updates for prior versions, check Veritas website.

Id have to go with the general consensus here.. Back upexec is the way to go. Version 9 is by far the best backup program Ive ever laid hands on.

Lisc is kinda of salty, but its well worth the price since for us. its ALWAYS works.
