    IE6 stops linking

This has been going on for a couple of months and is intermittent. I am running WinXP with all updates and IE6 with all updates. After reaching a website and clicking on a couple of links, IE stalls. The progress bar slowly travels to the right and after 10 or 15 minutes just stops. This is on almost every website, but not all. It seems that it has to do with secure websites. I have tried every setting and turned off the following with no change: ZoneAlarm, CookiePal and PopUpStopper. I know that this is only on my personnal computer as I have 4 or 5 other computers here and I don't have the problem with them. I am on Cable Modem and a SpeedStream router. Any assistance would be greatly appreceiated. Thanks

Double check your ZoneAlarm settings. I've had similar problems that were only solved by Uninstalling it and then Reinstalling. Note: You might need to go through that Uninstall routine twice to get everything.

I've shut it down, but not uninstalled it. I will give it a try and see what happens.

In ie6 click on help, then about, what encryption is showing?

You might have a variation on this problem

You computer date and time could also have this effect - check the bios and the system date/time agrees.

DonJ, I uninstalled Zone Alarm, ran RegClean to remove all traces of ZoneAlarm and Zone Labs and searched RegEdit to remove both. Reinstalled ZA with no change in problem.

    NooNoo, To answer your question:
    Version: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633
    Cipher Strength: 128-bit

My clock has the correct time and zone.

    Thanks

Your profile maybe corrupt - create a new user and see if that works.

Well, I created a new identity and BINGO, that solved it. Now, can anybody tell me if it is possible to fix my "bad" identity as it is HUGE and some progs won't accept me in the new identity....for example "RoboForm". I would like to fix the original identity if possible. Thanks everyone and you NooNoo for the FINAL ANSWER.

Try logging on under a different profile than the new one or the old one and copying the files/folders specific to that program from the bad profile to the indentical folder in the new, good profile. Don't copy everything as you will undoubtedly copy the bad file.

Also, make sure the new profile has adequate rights to do what you need.
