    Question Router dismantle

Anyone ever dismantled a LinkSys router? I've got a BEFSR41 with a failing WAN port on it. I think its probably just a bad solder point so I would preffer to fix it and give it to my mother than throw it out. I took off the rubber feet and have inspected it only to find no screws anywhere. There appear to be clips of some kind on the bottom but if they have a function then it eludes me. If I have to break it to open it then it's just not worth the time.

On the BEFSR81 the front unclips and slides off (with a bit of force) and the clips you see from the bottom hold the PCB in place. the PCB slides out of those clips.
The only difference is yours is a 4 port and I am speaking of the 8 port model, I assume they are very close to the same.
Those who do not know, are lost...

I have a BEFSR41 also. It has a pen point rattleing around in it where a customer tried to reset it in an aggressive way.

I also tried to open it up. but found no obvious way.

I know it don't help solve your problem, but hopefully you can fell better knowing that your not alone.

    Lightbulb

I have figured it out!!! (I found a linksys sw laying on my bedroom floor, under some stuff, the front pannel snaps off with a little downward motion, as was the case when mine was steped on. I found the switch in two parts.)

    Hey, it worked.

I pulled the blue front off and the pen tip fell out. Put it back together and it works.

    Thanks

    HEY THANKS GUYS!

I just got mine open and I am gonna check all the solder points tomorrow. The board looks in great shape so I should be good to go by re-soldering the WAN port in.
