Attempting to go to most pages that use a "submit" button on the net times out.

Affected pages so far: Hotmail "delete" function, signing into GameSpy, posting here and at another site... the posting symptom is bizarre...

I can send very short posts, but that takes a long time, and if I try larger ones, it times out.

And it seems that if I delete my signature and "automatically parse URLs" that it works better too.

Using FTP, can send but not receive files.
Can't send files via any form of IM, but CAN chat via it.

Happened after networking it with my Win2KPro Thinkpad. There is only one NIC in this machine, I reboot it and swap cables to change to network or Internet.

NIC worked before and the network works just fine... it's a possible future solution tho...

Try downloading and using spybot search & destroy. Also try using spywareblaster (The link to blaster is contained within spybot and will stop the bots from getting you in the 1st place). Update it before you run it. Seems better than add aware.

The spybot s&d is available here:

Have you hooked your 2000 machine up to the DSL modem directly to see if you still have the issue? If it works well you have contained the issue to the ME machine and a format and reinstall is often the easiest solution after that OS'es issues. If the issue replicates on the 2000 machine then call you ISP.
