    WINDOWSWinHlp32.BMK

Anyone know what this file is/does? I did a google search and found claims that it's the driver for anything from a cdrom to a sound card to a video card. The reason I'm asking is my AV program hangs on it while scanning for a virus. Currently getting updates as we speak...

    TIA

    "winhlp32.bmk

A binary file created by the WinHelp engine to record bookmarks added to help files by the end user. The file is created in the windows directory"

If you haven't added any bookmarks to the help file..just try deleting this file. If it is needed, windows will recreate it. Does sound a little virus like, or else the file is corrupted.

There is file corruption on this computer... system.ini in fact is corrupted badly so I'm checking it for a virus but it keeps running into files that make it hang.... This was the latest one and I didn't know what it was, soooo.......

    I'll try that thanks Geo.
