Completely separate from trust, 10 and 12, they are not ready for hard-core porn. Hell I am not ready for some of the stuff that comes up, all which is easily accessible with a wide open Internet policy.

Also, I agree, the gun-to-surfing analogy was a little off. It was late, and I couldn't come up with anything better at the time.

Bottom line is this, trust your kids, yes. Give them responsibility with that trust and watch them grow well. But above all, protect your kids from what you can, absolutely!
I agree with all that. well said.

    Expensive?....yes

    Flawless?....always
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Failure is not an option -- its a "feature" of Windows.

Mama never told me geekhood was gonna be like this....

Like I said a little expensive. And might be overkill but its just a nugget of info for anyone wanting to know.

And with the rights set properly and the latest updates, your average user even with some semblence of knowledge is not going to know how to get around it.

Well, is this going to be a battle of whether it should or should not be installed or is someone going to recommend something? I dont care one way or the other, they are her kids and at 9 years old its her right to put controls on if she wants. The sites they were caught on were got onto by accident, they were going to www.brittneyspears.com and ended up somewhere they shouldnt have. The mother just wants to prevent this in the future

Cool down there bubba, this is a short thread, give it some time. I for one have no experience with this software, but encourage its use. I was offering my support, in hopes of finding a solution myself…had I any, I would have made some suggestions…

I'm not hot, I just hate everytime that someone asks about parental control everyone argues over the morality of the issue. Its her kid, she can do what she wants, I'm just being nice and helping her do what she wants to do.

Pleaese dont try to make someone feel like a bad person because they dont want their small children looking at Pron.

Yo yo...I am on your side. But I agree with crazyman's point to some extent. Also he was just expressing an opinion on an open forum, and rather politely I might add. Like I said, cool down!

Well, sorry if I've come off as being harsh, this damn Blaster worm has had me working literally 5-8X harder than normal and then when Im not at work Im doing "charity" cleanings for friends and family. Its just that the last time I asked about this here, the topic turned into a morality issue.

    blaster problems?

Cant be all that bad, there is a 10 minute fix out there to clear everything....

    Back on topic though...

There is a ISP you can subcribe to that blocks offensive pages at their end (no not AOL) and also blocks most chat programs and file sharing programs (I assume through port blocking)

I cant remember the name, but they have a large number of access numbers available. I'll ask around at my old shop and see if I can come up with a name for you.

Yeah, well you take a 10 minute fix and multiply it by around 65-90 users per day (Yes, these are actuall logs from my phone report) and see how things go. Usually I have a minute or three between calls, but I dont even have a second or three due do this god damned worm.
