Strange One!!!
I am working on a old pentium 233. The modem got zapped. I replaced the modem and it gets to the windows screen and goes black. I have moved the video card and the modem to different pci slots, change video cards, modems ect.... If I leave the modem out the machine will work fine.
Thanks for any help Keystone

What modem make/model? Have you got a different brand to try?

There must be more varibles to solve this equation.
What is the O/S?
What type of POST do you hear?
Can you access a DOS prompt?
Is the modem seen in the post Screen?
etc....etc....

Sorry I did not give all of the info. It was windows 98. I ended up deleting the enum in the registry. That fixed the problem. Thanks for making me think. Keystone
