spam filter
I have a customer who wants a spam filter... does anyone know of a decent one? I would prefer one that can be downloaded.... Doesn't have to be free but for time the download is wanted at least...

Thanks Daemon. If you purchase it does it activate the free trial or do you download the full non-trial version on purchase?

I use mailwasher for the most part. It lends itself to my home use well.
And SA Proxy is a nice little quick and dirty fix to toss at systems here where the email program is left open all day.

I tried both mailwasher and counterstrike. Mailwasher appealed to me because it gives directions and even has an automated setup for Noton Antivirus protection. Howver it didn't have built in message rules (though they can be downloaded from another site) However Mailwasher would not detect other identities in OE6 and I would have to manually configure each one. Too much work for software I want to recommend to my clients.
Counterstrike makes no mention of any antivirus protection.
Does anyone know of or is using any spam filter that meets the following:
Will automatically detect OE5 or OE6 identities and automatically configure them?
Allow for automatic or manual configuration of Norton Antivrus?
Contain built in message rules ( ex. if the subject contains "pharmacy") and not just external spam lists?
I am getting somewhat frustrated in my hunt for spam filter to recommend to my casual home users.
thanks in adavance

I think you are trying to implement a redundant solution here. It seems like you are asking for software to filter spam and then wanting to configure the email client to filter for spam too by denying keywords like 'pharmacy' or 'viagra'
If the anti-spam solution is doing it's work then the 'pharmacy' or 'viagra' rules should not be needed. The spam filtering software should have already eliminated those from the download queue. I use the rules in MW to whitelist the people I like. It kinda works like this
blacklist everyone->whitelist people I like->process mail->launch email pgm.
When I use mailwasher at home the only messages that OE sees are the ones that get I actually let thru, so mail rules aren't needed. The messages have to make it thru 8 realtime DNS blacklists before Mailwasher ''washes'' my mail then launches Outlook Express or Outlook or whatever and the only messages left are good messages i haven't deleted right off the remote server.
More info here
MW isn't tweaked to my likings right out of the box, but once you set it up and train it for a month it's pretty bulletproof IMHO. The only hurdle for the home user is the multiple identities issue you are asking about. I use an older beta version of the program before they limited the free version to one email account, so I don't know what the new or pro versions are capable of or if an NT based system like XP would make a difference in identities.

thanks but many of the recommendations don't support Outlook Express which most of my home users are running. I am looking into the IHateSpam recommendation

Huh? I just re-read your post. Maybe that is the problem with the one I downloaded.
