RJ45 Connector Question
is there a difference between a Cat 5 and Cat5E connector? should any RJ 45 connector fit into an ethernet card without first being crimpted to a cable?
if the cable is crimpted to a cable, and it does not fit into an ethernet card, does that mean that the cable was not crimpted correctly?
going by the different prices in crimp tools, i'm sure that they are not all created equal. any recommendations as to the best ones in use? thanks for the help guys.

First, 5 and 5e use the same rj45 connector. No it will not fit into a nic without being crimped to a cable. If after crimping, it does not fit, then you may not have crimped properly. If your looking to do a lot of this, invest into a ratcheting crimper, they will not let you release the pressure untill the connector is full crimped into place.
