Windows XP Pro won't start...
I'm running a WinBook M201 pentiun 4 with 512 Ram and a 30 gig hard drive -
it's a month old...
and I am in computer Hell.... Here's what started the problem... I loaded Roxio CD Creator and it screwed up my CDRW drives... soo I have been trying to get it out for few days... In the course of doing that I used the Windows XP Pro restore function three or four times.
The last time I used it I got a DOS looking screen that apologizes for being unable to start Windows and gives me three of four option for starting Windows... (Safe Mode - Normal - the last good confiuration etc...) Here's the rub...
None of them work... the computer shows the WinBook splash screen for two secs and then goes right back to the DOS screen offering the same options... I never see a Windows start up screen...
I have the formatting CD's so I can start over but even those won't read in the drive ...
Anybody got any idead for me... or do I just take the Computer back to WinBook?
Thanks for reading ...

Alright, you have two problems:
CDRW does not work anymore (make sure in BIOS it is set to boot from CD first before we are sure of this).
Second, you can't get into windows.
You can try safe mode with dos prompt or Recovery Console (if it was installed since I don't think it is by default).
But, you need to know what to do once you get to the prompt or RC.
See these:

If the CD is bad it is time for Winbook to honor their warranty.
I would give them a call anyway, since they will walk you through (hopefully) the solutions I have provided.
Good luck and welcome to Windrivers..
