Its a keyboard that went out with a lot of things. The driver doesnt care whether its a presario or a deskpro.

What I meant to say is that driver is for a different keyboard. The button setups are not the same. I appreciate your time though.

OK, lets have a bunch more details about this keyboard then... what other numbers are on there? What hotkeys are there and what are they supposed to do? Which compaq did this keyboard originally come from - exact model please!

OK -- more details....
i need this keyboard to work with Windows XP (as i see many others do too)
Compaq keyboard model SK-2700
FCC ID: GYUR55SK
Compaq P/N 340740-003
Spare P/N 340869-003
Originally with Compaq presario desktop 5220
it has a row of buttons at top for sound
4 buttons "play/pause" "stop" "|<<" ">>|"
then the sleep button as a new moon symbol
then 4 buttons for sound: "mute" "- sound down" "+ sound up" "??rocket symbol"
then 4 buttons for internet
1 is obviously email
1 is magnifiying glass
1 is i
1 is check mark
have tried many easy access drivers -- none seem to do the trick with WinXP
also, (without the correct driver) and using the keyboard there is a shutdown problem with XP -- it just restarts and if error reporting is enabled it says problem with kbdclass.sys -- if i plug in a standard generic PS/2 keyboard... all returns to normal... and XP will shutdown WITHOUT restarting
hope this is enuf info....

My solution
I use a reg file that swaps the codes of a couple of the keys on this keyboard so they can all be programmed by the native windows xp driver. If you install TweakUI with this registry file you can program the keys under the Explorer\Command keys menu of TweakUI for windows xp.
Copy the lines below and paste into notepad. Save with .reg extension and open it.
--------copy below into notepad-----------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,06,00,00,00,6b,e0 ,1f,e0,6c,e0,1e,e0,\
65,e0,21,e0,32,e0,23,e0,21,e0,32,e0,00,00,00,00
