    Laptop screen blackout upon bootup

I have a laptop that when I boot it up, it will display a memory count, and allow me to enter th BIOS, a second later (after showing the key combo to enter BIOS) a loud solid beep occurs, then the screen turns black. The laptop is still booting, cuz I see the hard drive light going and hear sound. I have figured out that hitting the Fn+F4 key in combo will bring the screen back on, and the laptop is fine. When I restart or reboot, I need to hit Fn+F4 to get the screen back. Any ideas why?? and how to fix??? Thanks in advance!!

It would help to give us details about the lappy.
    Brand, OS?
Have you talked to the manufacturer?

Have you tried attaching a monitor to the laptop to see if it switches to monitor output after boot up. FN-F4 has usually shown to be the directions to switch to a monitor or to both or to just the laptop screen again. Each laptop is different however, without the specific info I couldn't be sure. But maybe in BIOS somewhere it's set to boot to monitor rather than screen first...

Yep function in the bios. Search around for something along the lines of "external monitor enabled/disabled on boot" or something like that.
