    Angry No Bios Installed

Any help would be appreciated. I hope I am supplying enough information.

    Building a new pc:

    The motherboard is ASUS SK8N.
    Processor is AMD 2.4
The processor was attached to the motherboard and tested working by my friend. It is detected in BIOS.

    1. Installed existing three hd from prev. pc (recognized in bios)
    2. Installed DVD-ROM and DVD-RW (recognized in bios)
*3. The floppy disk drive light will not turn off.
    4. When I start up the pc the following screens appear:
    a. The mb splash screen (giving me the option to hit DEL to get into the setup)
    b. option to get into the raid utility
    c. sata378 tx2plus (tm)
    d. Detecting....
    e. Bios is not installed
    f. Options for safe mode, safe mode w/ networking, safe mode w/ command prompt, last known good configuration, and start windows normally.

When I select all of these options (one at a time) a blue screen flashes so fast I can not read what is on it.

How can I fix this problem? Also, why does it say no bios installed when I am able to hit delete to look at the boot options in the BIOS?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forums Bonnetta

When you built this new pc, did you reinstall Windows XP? Or have you just put in the old hard disks, along with the old installation of XP?

No bios installed means the Serial ATA settings. In Bios you can turn off or on SATA. You have no SATA drives so you don't need the m/b to look for them.
And yes, you will need to do a repair install so xp can reconfigure the hareware to work properly with it.
The floppy light on means that you've not connected the cable properly. Reverse it at the drive end.

Welcome to WD Bonnetta! The answer to number 3 is the floppy cable is on backwards. I suspect that the bios not detected is for the serial ata drives and the raid config. Are the hd's from the previous pc serial or scsi or ide? What drive are you trying to boot from? And what operating system are we dealing with? When you get to step f you are loading the os which means you are past the bios and dealing with the os you may need a reload in order to get the os to load properly.
Can't never did anything except whine about what he couldn't do.
Do, or do not. There is no try.

The operating system is Windows XP. The hd are IDE. They have windows installed. I just found a manual online for the mb. I am looking now for how to disable the ATA.

    *update*

The manual does not have a description on how to disable the ATA in the BIOS. The BIOS I am looking at says v 02.54 1985-2003 American Megatrends, Inc.

When I go into BIOS and go under ADVANCED CHIPSET and disable PROMISE CONTROLLER, I do not get the message, "bios is not installed". Before it was set to enabled (ide). but Im still getting that continuous loop where I need to select safe mode, networking, etc. where it shows a blue screen really quick and loops again.

Where do I go from here?

    Thanks!

You did right about disabling the Promise controller. That is for raid which you don't use either.
You can do the repair install of XP now. Or, format and install. Your choice. Do you have data on the drive that you don't want to lose?
