RAID Speed Question
Hi all. I just got my ASUS A8V up and running. I set up a RAID 0 with 2 Segate 160GB SATA drives on the Promise controller. I set the cluster size to 64. I also have 2 IDE drives hooked up normal via ribbon cables if that matters.
My speed tests show about 50 MB/sec for the RAID array. The 2 IDE drives are just at 45 MB/sec. Is that normal for the RAID array? I thought it would be closer to 100 MB/sec, or at least a lot faster than the IDE drives???
Thanks for any comments and suggestions.

Those speeds look about right to me. If you're using Sandra as your benchmark, the RAID scores that approach 100 are using 4 drives in RAID 0.
Also, after using a number of different RAID controllers, both integrated and add-on, and a number of different drives, and tweaking the h**l of Windows I have yet to be able to match the Sandra figures.
