Angry Discontinuation of Online Services for older versions of Quicken

Discontinuation of Online Services for older versions of Quicken

The following contains important information for Quicken 98, 99, and 2000 customers. Changes are coming this spring that will affect the way you use your Quicken software.

If you are using a current version of Quicken, including 2001, 2002, 2003, or 2004 you will not be affected by the changes described below.

Discontinuation of Online Services for Quicken 98, 99, 2000

On the following dates, Online Services* for Quicken 98, 99, and 2000 will no longer be available:

    Quicken 98 and 99: April 20, 2004

    Quicken 2000: May 18, 2004
These Online Services include downloading financial data from your participating bank, credit union, credit card, brokerage or mutual fund accounts, online bill pay, downloading stock quotes, downloading news headlines and other financial information into Quicken, and uploading portfolio information from Quicken to Quicken.com. In addition, live technical support is no longer available in these older versions. To continue using these Online Services and maintain access to live technical support from an Intuit representative, you will need to upgrade to Quicken 2004.

Why we are making this change

We are committed to delivering the best possible products, service, and security to our customers. Each year, the number of customers using current versions of Quicken grows. Retirement of older versions of the product allows us to focus our resources on supporting our more current products, which are used by the vast majority of Quicken customers.

How to continue using Online Services

As mentioned above, if you are currently using Quicken 98, 99, or 2000 and would like to maintain access to the Online Services and live technical support, you will need to upgrade to Quicken 2004. Upgrading is easy, and Quicken 2004 automatically reads your existing data file, so you can start using the new features right away. We greatly value our Quicken customers, and we want to make it smooth and easy for you to make the transition to Quicken 2004. In appreciation for your relationship with Quicken, we would like to offer you our best discount on the newest version of Quicken. Through this special, one-time offer you will receive:

*Online Services require internet access, vary by participating financial institutions, and may be subject to additional terms, conditions, and fees. To access the many free tools available to research and track investments, go to www.quicken.com.

Terms, conditions, features, service options, and pricing for support and optional services are subject to change.

For additional information concerning this change, view our list of Frequently Asked Questions.
What a load of cr@p. If they want to end technical support, fine, but what could it possibly be costing them continue providing online services? Why should I have to go and but a new version if the old one works fine?
