    KWE 580 usb card blues - help!

    hi folks,

    Am working on a system here that has a PCI USB card (KWE 580). Windows 98 is detecting it as an SIS chipset which is correct. It installs the drivers off the 98 cd, but the two USB hubs have yellow exclamation points. I have also downloaded a newer driver and tried to install it, but it gives me a "severe registry error" when I try to install or uninstall using the supplied setup program.

    Any suggestions?

    Go to safemode, removal any and all usb stuff. Detach any usb devices after shut down, remove card.

    Reboot, ensure all mention of usb has gone
    Restart, run driver setup.exe, shut down.
    Replace usb card, restart, pray
    Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
