Sound driver for an HP Pavilion XL844

HP is a bunch of f***tards and are of absolutely no use to me. Anyone know where I can find a driver for the sound card on a Pavilion XL844?

    For what OS?

Oh I guess that they only have drivers for win2000

    ---edit ----

It looks like the downloads for win2000 have several different crystal sound chipsets... which one do you have?

Have you tried searching with google?

Sorry Shard, it's got Windows ME. I found the drivers. I had to go to VIA's website to download them. Now the computer just blue screens and reboots itself. I'm taking a break from it before it gets chucked out the window.

    No problem

So it's a via sound? Ac97 thingy huh? Those can be a royal pain in the ***!!

Try going into safe mode and removing any listing for sound and then uninstall drivers.... then reboot and try again....

Here is what worked for me. I went to HP website and got the specifications for that model computer, and looked up the Sound Card there.

Then I went to ASUS website for the driver. They seem to have them for all HP stuff, for some reason. They don't care what you use it for, and it was non-proprietary, meaning it did not have any ASUS stamp in the install routine. Customer is still happy two years later.

    Hope this helps.
