wierd windows folder
ok i was trying to overclock my system has much as i could an still be stable. unlucky me it skrewed up my system specially missing files in the system32 folder.. luckily me i have an backup harddrive w/ winxp. i noticed when i opend the HDD that screwd up that in the windows dir. that it has a folder hilighted in blue what does that mean?
here's my specs.
MSI K8t-Neo
athlon64 3000
kingston 500ddr
samsung 160gig SATA
Seagate 8gig.. backup
ati9500 64mb
does anyone know what the hilighted blue folder means
the folder name is "$xpsp1hfm$" wit a subfolder in blue "kb828035"
this HDD has winxp sp1 an so does the back up but the back up doesn't have a folder hilighted in blue

Blue text is compressed files.

and the KB828035 is a microsoft knowledge base article so you can look up what that file contains.

Are you sure that is the right kb number?
MS03-043: Buffer Overrun in Messenger Service Could Allow Code Execution
is what i get from that.

Its a windows update uninstall folder.
There's nothing unusual about that folder. It just means you've been good and been doing your updates. Its there in case you should want to uninstall that particular update. That folder is safe to delete, as long as the update didn't hose the system.
