help altering a mail server
I'd like to change our 'collector' mail server, that functions as a fast attachment sender locally, and also collects from an outside web hosting, to a full fledged mail server that faces the internet. I'm running Mercury 32/v 4.01, and I was wondering how I would specify our static ip as the mail server IP, WHILE maintaining the our website physically with the web hosting company (we dont' have time to secure it and all that stuff).
My question is, do I need to set up port forwarding for port 110 (or 43), and what else do you guys recommend I do.....I have our domain registered with network solutions, so is there a way to set a static IP as the mail server while pointing to another physical site for the web host. I guess I'm just not sure how MX entries work, that's all.

Talk with your host. I'm sure that they will be more than willing to setup the mx records to point to your (static) ip.
