Can WinXP boot from removable media???
I'm working on a new project & plan on testing this out myself when I gather all the hardware, but I was wondering if it's possible for Win XP Pro to be booted off of a removable device, such as an USB 2.0 external Hard Drive? Thanks for any info...

sure, but be tricky, one way that comes to mind is to ghost a machine with xp intalled and running then ghost that machine to the external hard drive (drive 2 drive) and that should work, another would to be to take out the ahrd drive formt he external case and then load xp on it and the put it back. Now you know if you do this the computer you use to load xp will be the only computer to beable to boot from it. Since xp logs down all your hardware. so if you are planning to put xp on a external hard drive to use on diffrent computers then this wont work

The plan is to use a removable USB 2.0 enclosed 40GB HD in my Car PC. I basically want to keep the drive in the cab, away from the subs, while the PC itself is in the trunk (or under the seat, not sure yet)...The project is still inthe planning phases though
