    SEcuring a Desktop

    Hey folks,

I have a Windows 98 system in which I'd like to clamp down on what applications can and can not be opened.

Specifically, I want the comptuer to launch, load one application, prevent the use of CTRL-ALT-DEL and/or closing the program (if possible), and if they _can_ close the program, I'd like them to NOT be able to use Internet Explorer or get to a command prompt.

Basically, I want it to be a kiosk.

Of course, I don't expect you guys to point how to do this, but I'm hoping with a web site on W98 administration...?

    Cheers,

    Mike...

start->run->type in 'sysedit' hit enter, on the system.ini file change the line "shell=explorer.exe" to the path to your program.

edit: I think the path has to be DOS compliant meaning no spaces etc, something like SHELL=c:\progra~1\novell\zenworks\nalwin32.exe

if you need to change it back boot to a DOS prompt and do an edit on C:\Windows\system.ini and change it back

test it out, changing it back and forth so you have it down pat before you give it to them.
