    sound works but mic does not

    I am having a problem my my microphone, I am running windows XP pro and have a amd mri k7t turbo motherboard with a duran 849mhz processor. I have not been able to use my mic since I wiped my hard drive and reinstalled everything. I am wondering if maybe I have the wrong drivers. right now it has a via ac'97 driver for the audio and mic is this right?

    Have you checked the settings in the audio control panel? XP has the mic muted by default. If this is the case just unmute it
