    Question Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) Windows XP issues

    Hey

    I got some trouble with my on-board sound card.
    When XP tries to detect it by itself it detects it as:
    Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) - the version is 5.2.3633.0

    Right after XP installs the new driver, there is a working sound card and there is no problem at all...

    The thing is that right after reboot there is no sound at all. Everything else seems fine.

    I read a lot of messages in various forums and tried several drivers and several files:
    1373nt4
    7512183
    apnt4x86
    Ensoniq ES1370
    es1373
    SBPCI_WebDrvsV5_12_01


    it seems that only when using Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) there is sound but alas - after reboot it is gone.

    HELP! (?)

    It is a VIA Tech motherboard - I'm not sure which brand exactly

    Take a look here. ES-1373 drivers are 3rd from the bottom. Doesn't have an xp driver listed - I would try the 2000 driver.
    Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

    Tried to update my current driver Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) (version 5.2.3633.0) to the one you suggested. XP refused to do so because it is an older driver version. I've tried to uninstall my driver and install the new one but with no result - after boot time the AUdioPCI driver is back in place and working. Always working after windows XP detects it. The problem is there is no sound after another reboot (after detection).

    Willing to try anything - even things i've tried before - just to get rid of this problem already...

    Check that you don't have Driver Signing set to block. When xp warns you about the driver version you should be able to override.

    Nop. Driver signing is at warning state.

    Please help me... it is really annoying to live without sound...

    When you reboot and the "sound is gone" What is the state of device manager? How about the multimedia control panel applet? Are the sound devices still shown? Is there any error messages or the playback/record devices greyed out?

    The device manager states that the device is working properly.
    In the Sound and Audio Devices Properties there is No Audio Device message, there are no available playback devices (Everything in the Sound and Audio Devices Properties is greyed out).



    "God help those who help themselves" so i did my best - uninstalled everything related to sound and got my Motherboard manul out of the dust (MS-6154VA Manual). In there i found that i'm using ES1373 which is a digital controller (was not sure until now...)

    Using the MSI Live update software i found that i'm using latests BIOS version.

    My computer is an ProSentia Elonex system (www.elonex.co.uk) but after a short research i doubt that they have any interesting driver update for me.


    I believe that Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) version 5.2.3633.0 is the right one for me, but what could be the reason for it to "disappear" after reboot? (Could it be a mess in the BIOS configuration or Windows Services?)

    I have the same problem that you had. I've read the thread leading to your solution but I don't understand what you did to solve it. I would really appreciate it if you could explain the process. Thank you for your assistance.
