Keeps going into BIOS everytime I start comp.
Sys Spec.
Asus A7V333
AMD XP 1800
512 mb ram pc-2100
Win Xp pro
Hi,
Ok, I shut down and turn the power off. I come back to it later and everytime it starts up, it goes into bios and the system date is year 2000 with time at 12:00 am. So everytime is start up my comp, I go through the bios as if something is wrong (obviously). Is it the Bios battery that’s the problem or can it be something wrong with the boot process? Because I installed some program which was supposed to make my boot faster and after that, the problem started. Now I reinstalled windows thinking the program only did that to the windows boot file, but still, the same problem.
Oh, if i restart, no problem.
Any programs to diagnose the problem or any ideas why this is doing this?
Thanks for you time

You need to replace the battery
Probability factor of one to one...we have normality, I repeat we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem.

I would replace the bios battery and flash the bios if you feel comfortable doing that. good luck.

replace the battery and flash the bios ONLY if u need the options that are available on later bios,es ,
the A7V333 , had 2 revisions , version 1 would only go to 2.2-2.4g ,,,ie 266 ,,whereas the revision 2 would allow 333 , unless you wish to run a "faster" or higher freq CPU,,,then don,t do it.
if u want to go from , i think sub 1006 to a later version , u will have to flash this chip , in several stages.
remember that the bios on this board is not the normal plug in bios , ,,,but is a smaller version (4 sided) ,,,which will be harder to recover.
unless u have a problem , that was fixed in a later revision DON,T flash it
