    Kazaalite adaware????

Not actually the right header in this thread but, i reformatted my HD couple days ago, looked up some stuff with Kazaalite. Now there is a folder to be seen: C:\Windows\system32\kazaabackupfiles. I contains 19 .exe files, all are 99 kb, they seem to be all keygenerators and cracks, who i DID'NT download, also they cannot be opened, they do nothing. Someones opinion on this??

sure, uninstall kazaa and you wont get used as a respository.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

If you love Kazaa, read this http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/data/kazaa.htm
The write up is a little dated, but you get the idea.

Well I hadn't .. so with not too much to do today I did & they all came out in German ! Noo I think speaks German at least a little .. but the words I didn't have to shove into some translator program were 'worm', 'trojan' & 'virus' !!!

Which somehow doesn't surprise me ! - Sure I can think of lots of legal ways to use 'sharing applications' - but lots get used for less legal activities too & they aren't always so nice

Anyway the 'official' Kazzalite project got shut down using copyright laws (I just love this idea - oh the irony ! ) by the makers of Kazza themselves ! Any you find floating about on the web are almost certainly realeased by some even less scrupulous soul wanting to infect your machine with some 'nasty' ..

I actually have a copy downloaded a year ago or so and stored in my "tools" folder. Never used of course. There is a website out there for old software, too. There is a thread talking about it around here somewhere the last couple of days (don't fell like looking).

BTW, notice how malware which isn't worldwide yet always first appears in Eastern Europe or Russia? Hence the google results in a foreign language. I found one on a pc yesterday and it only had two pages of results with only one mention on TSG (unremarked upon, too) and the rest in German. The program ran in the background and had no description under properties. Everything was blank. To be honest, I should have submitted it to someone for checking, but in my haste just got rid of the nasty.
