Screen goes black after boot!
I have a major problem with my computer, when I boot up (after the splash screen) I get a black screen and and white little cursor and nothing happends, it appears as if windows is loading in the background but im not sure. I tried to boot in safe mode but I get the same error.
I've had no problems untill now with this install of xp pro (only 1 month old), it all started when I unplugged my 2'nd hdd, I got blue screens and boot errors.. I need help!

Have you pushed F8 at boot and tried "Last known good configuration" yet?
It could be one of several Microsoft patches they put out this year that cause problems when loading drivers at boottime.
A way out would be to stick an old PCI video card in, take the AGP out, and see if there's any different result. Video drivers tend to cause the most problems, but it could be anything.
Other things to try:
1- boot off Windows CD, get into Recovery Console, run CHKDSK /R, reboot
2- Still bad? Boot to Windows CD and do a "Repair install"
3- Still bad? Boot to Windows CD and run the SFC /scannow command to forcably replace all Windows files with the versions from the CD. This will ruin every update you ever installed, so this is a last resort.

Before you go overboard, boot into safe mode, then delete the Display adapter. Then boot back into windows, then reinstall. some of the NVIDIA’s are know for blowing out the resolution when you boot into XP without a monitor attached. This is the easiest way to get things back, just got to remember not to boot up without the monitor attached...
