Boot problem white bar on black screen

    Hi all,
I had a hard drive crash. I reformatted (low level), installed windows XP, then installed SP1 and the security patches. Now I have a wierd problem.

On boot, the pc goes past the boot screen like normal, but then the screen goes black. The Hard drive light goes on and a white bar goes across the bottom of the black screen. I hear the HD chug as the bar fills from left to right (like the HD is being checked for errors). Then the bar fills and the PC boots like normal & works fine. This happenes on every boot, warm or cold.

Not A BIG PROPBLEM BUT IT TAKES 3-4 MINUTES TO BOOT.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this so I boot normally.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Windrives lennyn,

What you’re describing it sounds like your hard drive is ready to die.
