Unable to access SATA drive
Recently built new system (Athlon 64 3000+ MSI neofis2r) and installed 80gb SATA drive.Fresh install of XP, programs reinstalled and data transferred from ATA hard drive, then removed ATA. All worked well for a couple of days. Then re-booted system and it wouldn't load XP. Kept getting to logo screen and re-booting again and again.Put ATA drive back again with fresh install of XP and tried to access SATA from there but it wouldn't work. Blue screen said that system has closed down to prevent damage and that there may be errors on disk. Subsequent attempts to re-boot SATA said "NTLDR is missing".
I've now disconnected SATA and am using ATA which works fine as long as SATA is not connected. Does this mean I've lost all my data or is there a way into the SATA drive?
Any help much appreciated
Phil

Your bios settings must have went back to default for some reason. you have to turn on the S-ATA controller back on and make sure its setup for both P-ATA & S-ATA. That should work.

Is the correct power connector hooked up properly? The fact that it worked a couple days then died is fishy. How about a possible virus?
