2 hard drives one is ME other XP HELP!!

I recently started up my computer and XP wouldn't load. I kept getting a black screen that said "Windows is unable to load....." "Start in Safe mode, normal mode, ect..." anyway none of that stuff worked. I kept getting the same black screen. So, I had an old computer in my basement and I thought maybe I could use that one's hard drive to access the other ones stuff. You see I make a lot of music and have tons of stuff on the hard drive that won't start windows and don't want to lose that stuff if I don't have to. But I can't seem to access the other hard drive. I made my old (basement computer)hard drive the Master and the new(one that won't start windows) hard drive the slave. But I just can't access the stuff that is on it. And windows just won't start! Someone... Anyone... HELP!!

Won't work if the basement computer is fat32 and the xp is formatted ntfs.

Insert your xp cd and do a repair installation.

will this delete everything thats on that drive? I tryed putting a CD in that says reinstall windows XP but it didn't do anything. The old basement computer works fine but the power supply to the old one went bad. But it works fine when I put it into this new computer... this whole thing might sound confusing. I'm not that great with comps but I get by but this thing has really got me. I believe they are both Fat32
