Computer "freezes" during bootup

Lately my computer has been freezing while it's booting up.

Just after the screen where it's searching for any boot discs, and I believe right before the Windows XP Home loading screen, sometimes my computer will flip to a blank screen with only a blinking cursor on the top left. It just sits there, never proceeding with Windows. I'm thinking this is more of a problem with Windows than it is the BIOS, but I'm not sure.

It doesn't do this all the time, but it does it I'd say 3/5 times when I not only turn on, but also when I restart the computer. Just a moment ago I had to hard reset the computer 4 times before the computer finally made it to Windows. So it's obviously rather frustrating.

Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it? Thanks for any help in advance!

Need more details, what in startup? Whats the specs in teh pc?

as Techz mentioned we need more details about your computer Hadrware. If you find it difficult - try using HWINFO (http://www.hwinfo.com).
