    Windows Explorer does not load

    Windows XP
    Novell 6 client
    ZEN works

Client logs in and then nothing appeares but default background.

keyboard short cut to task manager shows taht explorer.exe is not running, starting the task resolves the problem untill a future logon. (intermittent)

only occurs when attached to the network

not have 3 notebooks doing this.

logon scripts appear to run and then the system stops.

all 3 note books belong to users in the executive wing, so i realy need ideas here!

Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

yes, no such luck. however it does seem like on of the sibe items at the bottom of the article involving profiles.

If i login administrativly and reset the users local password(damn novell!) the system complaines about lossing data. I say fine it throws something out and all is normal again.

Im starting to think that when the system goes to standby to undock the notebook fastuser swicthing is getting involved, therefore the system still thinks the user is loged in and looses its mind when they login for what appears to be the second time making their profile unavalible becasues its already in use.

Haing the users shutdown before they un-dock rather than eject the pc or press the un-dock button seems to avoid this.

ps what i would not give for GPO type managment in a Novell enviroment and with windows PC's

The more i interact with the users (im new here) the more poeple that seem to have this problem.

They login and windows just stops, no login scipts, o nothing, get he windows sound though, so they did authenticate. the real pain is th at it is so intermittent. some days it happens to lots of people, and is consistent, other no problems, or the y just reboot and it works. Teh previous post is in reffenerece to one inicdent wher it would not resolve it self no how.

This is becomeing very concerning, because so many of my users assume that this is normal, and the ones that are... well you know... jump all over it when it happens to them.

I don't know much about it, but is there a way you could have it run explorer at the end of the script?

So what does event viewer have to say?

Does the machine get an ip from the dhcp server?
