    Post interesting problem.

when i connect my cable modem via nic, it will not assign an ip..
when using usb it operates flawlessly.

i would like it to operate as an eithernet device due to usb speed limitations
(usb caps around 12mb sec and myeither net is 100 but the modem itself caps around 38 according to motorola.)
but also since i have xp installed, the latest xp usb driver for the modem seems to be a little flakey.
( sometimes the device will randomly disconnect and reconnect, and that isnt being caused by power management. and ever since i installed them when i do a server scan it will blue screen )

so obviously i would benefit from eithernet not only speed wise, but also gain reliablity.

anyone out there got any good ideas??

and i have tried specifying the ip info
and i have verified my hardware via loopbacks

i figure that its something with DHCP not working properly, but i had this same problem with win 98.. then i clean installed xp and the problem is stil there..

    HELP!!!

ok, is the mac address of the nic registered with your cable isp? if not do so and it should work,
failing that im not sure what your problem could be.
    Good Luck
All sorts of wonderful things in life.
