IE Locks Up
[FONT=Comic Sans MS]My computer locks up intermittently when I go to the internet ( I have dial up). I am currently using IE 6. I have had it into the shop for two days and it was cleaned, all three fans checked etc. No viruses. I run Zone Alarm. This morning when I logged into my email there were two messages. One said that another function was using port 110( I know that is my email) and to disable that program. The second message said that port 25 was in use by another function or program. I am still having problems with IE freezing. My question is what is port 25. Could this be the reason my computer locks up when using the internet. If it is this, how do I fix this?

Little more information would help
What windows?
What type of computer?
Also you may want to unload za and try it without it
Dialup doesnt really need ZA
What antivirus?
Have you scanned for spyware?

I am using XP 1.5 ghz and 512 ram. 80 gig hard drive WD. Latest edition of Norton updated on sunday(live update on). I have spybot search and destroy, adaware, spyware blaster . I regulary use one of the spyware scanners and have found nothing. This began when I had XP installed on my computer on a brand new hard drive. I have tried deactivating ZA and it still happens. I have found various types of spyware on it but have deleted them.

I didn't delete ZA but did disable it along with spampal and so far no lock ups and I have run last night and this morning. I am using spybot. I wouldn't have thought that zone alarm would do that as I was running it on my win98se and no problems. I did get the version for XP also. Thanks for the info, and as I said so far so good. SL.....

yer welcome hope it continues.
Sometimes ZA goes in funny on the install and it does that. I would be tempted to remove it completely and then reboot and if you absolutely need it try another install but really its not nessecary unless you have an on all the time connection
