BeOS Boot disk?
First, I realize this is a Linux thread, but Be doesn't have its own here...
So i want to try to put BeOS on my crappy P166MMX laptop, as it supposedly runs decently fast on old hardware. However, it doesn't have a freaking BIOS option to boot from CD, only floppy or hard drive. Anyway, i downloaded a boot disk that supposedly works, but it won't fit on a floppy. The deved_1_1_boot-1.img.zip i downloaded contained deved_1_1_boot-1.img which contained BOOT.CAT, BOOT.IMG, AND FLOPPY.IMG. BOOT.IMG is 1,474,560KB, which won't fit on floppy at all. The other two files are 2048k and 0k. I've had no luck installing from CD using a win98 boot disk, as it doesn't run any of the files on the CD (from windows i can only see copies of those files mentioned above, which won't run from the windows floppy). I'm using a burned copy of Developer Edition 1.1.
Computer:
Dell Latitude XPi CD M166ST
40MB RAM
P166MMX
2gig HDD (no OS installed right now)
So, any ideas of how to either get the image on the floppy, or get the CD to install without one?

Try here everything you might want to know about boot disks

There are no instructions really. BeOS isn't documented very well, of course. I try to just put the floppy.img and boot.img files on the floppy, but then i get then NTLDR is missing error.
I used winrar to get the files from the .img, and i also tried winimage, but that didn't work either (it'd run out of space on the floppy as well).
Jwhart, i perused that site, but it's pretty much just boot CDs, which i can't do.

if it doesn't I bet that's what he needs to do.
winrawrite is a little easier to use (no command line)
download it here
use it to write floppy.img to a floppy disk, then boot with that floppy. betcha it works.

Sweet Jebus, rawrite worked! much love to the WD community
It wouldn't write the FLOPPY.IMG file (it said it was 0 bytes), but it fit the BOOT.IMG file. Now, i'm not sure yet what to do with the BOOT.CAB file, but at least i'm on my way now!
