    BT introducing bandwidth limits

Bandwidth limits are a growing an inevitability with ISPs; NTL introduced them a while ago, and now BT appears to be doing the same thing. Each month, BT customers will get 15/30 gigabytes (512k/1meg respectively) worth of bandwidth. If they go over that, they will be charged for extra bandwidth by the gigabyte (L2/Gig)

~Have to say that 2 pound per gig is cheap.

I'll go to dialup the day my cable company puts caps on transfer. They need to stop punishing everyone for the couple of **** nuts who transfer 100GB a month

this has been brought upon themselves.

averts on UK TV blatently telling people to "download music" ,,,prices are dropping "quickly" ,,,but like everyone else , i am tied into a contract.

when i signed the contract , there was no mention of "limits" , and this was a set fee, however , if i sat there d/loading movies/records , then i would now be penolised,
somehow AOL 1meg (as opposed to bt 512) looks promising ,,,,,,just washing my mouth out with soap,

    BUT IT IS CHEAPER?

Err I have NTL at home & no download caps over here (if there's meant to be some then they ain't working - but I'd be obliged for a link as to where it says so ), BT also have a range of products, some of which are 'capped' & some which ain't

& wtf do you mean '2 pound per gig is cheap' its a liberty that's what it is ! :butt:

I'm dammed if I'm gonna be connected to any ISP that wants to 'cap me' - you can get through 30gb a month without any trouble at all & no visits to Kazza or similar required .. I bet I do more than that a month on driver downloads - (toddles off to examine his disk & see how big this months downloads are - Hell YES - 12gb so far & its only the nineth as I type {its simpler to keep downloading them than organise them all})

I therefore rest my case that it stinks, & its merely a way to get some more dosh out of us

I just copied and pasted it, read the link that it came with, oh! $hit its a useless link, well sorry for that.

Are u telling me that you'd rather download the driver again than sort it, thats not right. I always sort out the stuff for quick access, try going back to 56k then you'll appreciate dsl. Ask Freddy.

I wouldn't worry. I've heard that Verizon is getting ready to rev up to 3mb down and 384 up and to couter comcast may got to 5-6mb down and 1mb up or some such thing. I doubt they will uncap the uploads.

Quote , from BT facts ,= answers

Q: I already spend too much on my Internet connection A: One of the advantages of broadband is the fact it's a fixed rate service. Because you don't have to dial up to enjoy web access, you have no Internet call charges to pay. And if you aren't making any calls, you won't get any unpleasant surprises when your bill arrives! With a fixed rate monthly fee of just £27, if you pay by Direct Debit, you can stay online for as long as you like, without ever having to worry about the cost.

,,,,,,untill they move the goalposts ,,,,,then u will get you won't get any unpleasant surprises

So they can change the contract anytime they want ???

How about you deside that the internet is only worth 25 a month.... Would they let you do that ??? I don't think so
