Branches have been created for three of mozilla.org's latest releases, in order to fix an external windows protocol handler bug. The fix involves disabling the shell: protocol handler, which was found to enable pages to run executables on Windows via a link. There will also be an XPI offered to disable the pref. Alternatively, you can set the pref "network.protocol-handler.external.shell" in about :config to 'false' to also remove the exploit. (This will only set it on your current profile, if you have more than one profile, or could be creating more, you should use the XPI or the updated build.)

I realize this is old news, but you can set FF to automatically update the software. Tools - Options - Advanced - Software Update.

On another note, the number, variety, and usefullness of the extentions are awesome for FF. Even if the IE development team gets their stuff together, I don't see how they can compete with the options offered for FF. It'll be interesting to see how things change in the new browser wars over the next year.
