outlook overwrote my outlook express dbx

I just imported my outlook emails to my outlook express and outlook overwrote my dbx files, does outlook make a backup and is it possible for outlook to do an overwrite?

Outlook does not use dbx files, it uses a pst file, so I don't see how it could have overwritten the dbx files

I imported my outlook messages to outlook express and outlook overwrote my dbx files ,see now I am using outlook express. I know that outlook doesn't use dbx but from import to express it integrates to outlook express dbx files.

If I read it right this time, the pst file from which outlook express imported your outlook emails should still exist.

Do a search for *.pst
Usually its in c:\windows or if 2k/xp in your docs and settings folder tree somewhere.

Outlook express would not create a backup of the dbx files before importing from the pst.
