$700 canadian is roughly £280 - which seems 'bang on target' to me for the specked drives.
That includes the $185 four SATA port raid card as well as the 4 drives.

but why have you had to buy yourself a sata raid card
My onboard is only 2 port, and I thought PCI RAID cards were better? I have a PCI RAID now.
you will get much greater speed with a good controller
So should I get the $250 CAD model that supports RAM? I have a promise fasttrak now and its what Im getting next too. Would getting 2 SATA drives with a RADI card and 256MB ram for the raid be better?
Why 80 gig drives? Youll get more for your money with a higher capacity
I was actually considering less, 320GB is already more than enough (I keep in mind I need enough tapes to backup what I'll put on it), plus I can always put my big movies on tapes and play them back from tape if it ever starts getting full.
I don't think I would have any mission critical material on a setup with such a high risk of failure
I have daily tape backups and rotate tapes so that takes care of that. And I do have critical data.
